In a couple of weeks, schools would be reopening and our children would be returning to the classrooms. As a mother of 3 kids, ages 5, 6 and 9, I am a bit nervous about sending my kids back to school but hey who isn't? I'm waiting to see what preparations are in place for schools in the coming weeks.
Covid-19 has changed a lot of things, the way we relate, socialise and even the way we shop. School is definitely not going to be the same as before especially with a lot of new rules that would be introduced to keep children safe.. I call it the new normal.
I have read a lot on groups about fears of most parents regarding sending their children back to school and the main questions are "Should they or Should they not?"
It is a tough choice especially if you have younger kids. How do you tell a 5 year old about social distancing? How do you say to your fun loving daughter, you can smile at your friends but you can't hug and play with them like you used to before? It is going to be tough to explain to kids that age when they return to school.
I have tried to educate my children on Covid-19 during lockdown. My 5 year old daughter calls it "Coronavinus" and she blames it for the fact that she can't go in an airplane and travel for holidays, or go to McDonalds and play like she used too. In a couple of weeks, they would be returning to school and I have to educate them on what to do to remain healthy but most importantly, its our duty to keep them positive and upbeat.
On Saturday, my kids and I went shopping for school shoes (We had to book an appointment to be able go to the shop) and of course, we had to wear masks!
Things are definitely different and will be for a long time!
I would love to know what you think about sending your children back to school. Are you ready? Do you think it's wise? I would really love to hear your thoughts on this :)
