I have always thought that a coffee table is the focal point of your living room and it can be, with the right decor. Whether you're looking for something rustic, contemporary functional or flashy, decorating your coffee table, will take your living room to the next level.
If you are like me and have had enough of living rooms with bland decor now's your chance to make a change. I love colours, lots of colours and that reflects in my decor, see my previous post: "Design. Decorate. Decor: A look into the home of an Art Enthusiast" on decorating my home in Lagos.
I love art and colours and I always try to put a lot of that in my living space and I definitely focus on coffee table because I spend a lot of my time in my living room, with my feet on my stool next to my coffee table.
When decorating your living room, its important that your decor most especially, your coffee table set-up deserves to reflect your style. I love clutter so my coffee table is always busy!
I look at Coffee table styling as an art, I tend too place my coffee table in a prominent place in my living room. And I am always making changes to my coffee table decoration.
Tip: Change your arrangement with seasons but make sure it fits in with your decor.
Using a combination of books, flower vases and coloured stones, I was able to create the perfect look I wanted. I got most of my decor on Amazon and thrift shops. I think Thrift shops are amazing for little treasures too.
For my house in Lagos, I went for a very different look, lots of art works, vases and bottles to give it a very artsy look. Very different decor and I love the grey walls, gives off a feeling of warmth.
When it comes to styling your coffee table, your items will look best when they are the right size. Items should be large enough, so they stand out on the table but should not be overwhelming so you have plenty of room to put down a drink, book, or a remote control. And you can choose to keep it clutter free too :)
