Feeling burnt out? I know the feeling, as a mum of three to an 8 year old boy and 5 and 4 year old girls, I get overwhelmed and just want to curl up under my duvet and just sleep. Everybody gets burned out once in a while, especially mums (I can relate to that), how do you handle it? Most times you never know when to just stop and rest, you just keep moving and keep pushing. I do that too and then boom! It just hits me and then I feel tired and stressed!
As Mums, we all seem to get to this place at some point – when we become the burnt out mom, we become stressed and we just wonder how to keep up when we feel burnt out. It can be an exhausting time in our lives. Loads of stuff to do, including housework, errands, name it! Hey, we are only human and it comes with the job, in my own case Mum to 3 energetic and hyperactive kids! After one week of rest (half-term break) My kids headed back to school and school runs have started again, shopping, scrambling to ensure they have all they need for their weekly activities, team meetings and after school activities and it can be tiring!
What do you do when you feel everything is crashing around you and you just want it all to stop? Do you feel like you never have enough time for yourself? How do we know when to stop and just take a step back! I hung out with a couple of mums over the weekend and we got chatting about this, they gave some wonderful advice and I wanted to share it with you today :)

Cancel plans: Just cancel all plans. Allow your self to do that! It might be tough but it's necessary.
Hit the snooze button! Let yourself snooze, take power naps, just relax.
Take a break from your phone: Okay that's a difficult one. Most of us can't do without glancing at our phones, and if you are a blogger like me, you would always want to take a peek at what is happening on social media or other blog posts! That can wait: Switch off the phone!
Treat yourself: What do you like doing best that relaxes you? Just do it! Forget everything and just relax doing what you love, take a walk, join a gym, try a meditation group or class, have a full body massage, name it! Anything that makes you happy, just do it, this is "me time"
Order takeout: You don't have to cook! You are allowed a break. Organise a movie night, order pizza and just sit back and relax with your kids, they would love it and you would relax too.
Join a mummy group! Or join a book club, Joining a group gives you a chance to talk to other adults that understand you.
Try to have some time for yourself, set aside 20 to 30 minutes a day where you can just nap, read a book, whether it is 20 minutes of devotion, prayer, meditation or just simply close your eyes. You will feel refreshed.
Go running or take a daily walk! I do that, I put on my ear pods, my iPod in my pocket and I take a walk. Music relaxes me.
Drink more water, water is good for the body and for the skin too!
Join an exercise class, or a yoga class or even a Zumba class! Lets get moving!
A cup of coffee does it for me every time, and you can throw in a toasted sandwich.
Take time for yourself. Get out, even if it is for a few hours on a Saturday. Hang out with other mums whenever you have a chance. See a movie on a weekday if you have the time.
Most importantly try to have some "Me time"Hope this helps! What do you do when you feel burned out? Would love to hear from you!
Warm Wishes,
Omo
